After the very controversial Ampatuan Massacre, another serious incident ocurred in the country. This new event is the "talk of the town," today. Again, the government and it's fellow citizen, are arguing over this matter. What is this all about? Why is everyone commenting on this issue? I see, the Philippines is tremendously shaking again with injustice and insurgency between Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) AND New People's Army (NPA).
Last February 6, Saturday, there were 43 suspected communist rebels arrested in a resort in Morong, Rizal. The place was owned by Dr. Melecia Velmonte, a consultant at the Philippine General Hospital. Dr. Velmonte said that the 43 alleged New People’s Army rebels are members of a non-governmental organization training in community health. They are all health workers in the place. The training started February 1 and will end on Sunday, February 7, but the workers were arrested. There were four six-by-six trucks, a military tank and two police mobiles," said Velmonte. Her home was raided at around 6:30 a.m. “(The military) said they recovered a grenade and a landmine from one of the beds of the participants,” Velmonte said. But she suspected the weapons were “planted,” since the soldiers searched the rooms without anyone else standing as a witness.
The question is, didn't she has any information about these people whom she is working too. Of course not! As a wise man, he will not entertain strangers, right. He will not let his good reputation to be destroyed.
I go for the 43 alleged people on this concerned issue. Everything is not yet proven. Let the law do it's part.

How's AdEPT?
Our Advanced English Proficiency Training (AdEPT) last Tuesday, January 19, was outstanding. Prof. Grama is a very good teacher. Although half of the class didn't attend the subject, it didn't affect her mood in teaching us productively during her time. The main objective of AdEPT is to focus on building effective communication skills among English majors. We tuckled about accent (articulation, stress, linking, intonation), proper pronunciation of words such as orange, beauty, and pronunciation, and rules in English. Lack of vocabulary, incorrect grammar, and wrong pronunciation are some of the impediments of effective and god communication. She presented the ways to solve these. The answers are just read and practiced a lot. Also, we had this activity in which we were to present a conversation on any topic, using British or American accent. All of the presentations were unique and creative. We practiced how to communicate well through the activity. We had fun! Our present English status will be more improved. Thanks to Prof. Grama and hurray for AdEPT!

BLOG (Publication)
One of the rights at hand of the Filipinos is the freedom of expression. In such democratic country, you can freely express your whole self. It covers your ideas and points of view towards a certain topic. These are evident through the various newspapers nationwide. And school publications really proved this truth.
As I had read, the different publication of the universities of Ateneo de Manila (the Guidon), University of Sto. Tomas (The Varsitarian) and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila( Ang Pamantasan), they all wanted to be heard using their articles. They all have the stand to the different issues /concerns in their respective school and to our country as well. These three presented both objectivity and subjectivity in their works. But the latter weighted more. They all presented facts and information but on the way they expressed their punto de vista, there are obvious differences. The writers from the different publications have their own unique style in writing. From The Varsitarian, we have Emil Carlo dela Cruz( Brother looking out for his brother), he presented equal sides of the story; the writer of Probing for the true disturbance from Ang Pamantasan is brave enough to express himself of who and what are the nuissace candidates and lastly in The Guidon , Ma. Anna Margarita Bueno (The stories worth living for), at first it seems personal but instead, it is for the concern of everyone in the end.
The writers are critical enough in expressing their views and insights on something. What matters most is the meaning they wanted to convey to the people. Writing is all about "Choice" and "Change".

AdEPT
Our Advanced English Proficiency Training (AdEPT) last Tuesday, Jan. 19, was outstanding. Prof. Grama is quite a good teacher. (She said that quite means really). Although not half of the class attended the subject, it didn't affect her mood in teaching us productively in her time. In her years in the profession, she had learned so much of the universal language. She had so much to say about it. Meanwhile, the main objective of AdEPT is to focus on building effective communication skills among english majors.Everytime she hears word/s which is/are incorrect, she makes the necessary corrections right away. Little buy little , our flaws and lapses in eglish will be set to right. Going back to our class last Tuesday, like what is accent(articulation, stress, linking, intonation), proper pronunciation of words like orange, beauty, pronunciation, etc., rules in english and many more. Lack of vocabulary, incorrect grammar and wrong pronunciation are some of the impediments for effective and good communicatiom. She presented the ways on how to solve these. The answers are just read and practice a lot. Alswo we had this activity in which we are to present a conversation with the subject accent (British or American). All of the presetations were unique and creative. We had practiced ourselves so much through this activity. We had fun! Our present english status will be more improved. Thanks and Hurray for AdEPT!

As the country's unemployment problem continues to worsen amidst the global economic crisis, reaching 7.7 percent in January of this year, more and more people are driven to ask what the government, specifically Makati, is doing to adress it.
Makati City District II Representative Mar-Len Abigail Binay said her office has been working on the problem through undertaking activities that have translated to real jobs for jobseekers. The jobs fair recently conducted by Binay's district office has resulted in the deployment of her constituents to various companies thus eliminating a good percentage of unemployed in the city. Makati is really a progressive city. Infact, it is the business center in the Philippines. With their prevailing government, it generates many jobs available for their citizens, making more breadwinners in Makati now empowered to feed their families.
The Binay's dynasty are still reigning in Makati. They are the one who made this city progressive. But, if someone other than Binays will be elected as the new mayor,is "Ganito kami sa Makati," still visible?

Honest Elections, Only for Today?
It is new that one of the top priorities of President Gloria Macapagal is to hold a peaceful, orderly, and credible national and local elections on May 10 this year.
Press Secretary Serge Remonde said the Arroyo Administration welcomed the call made by the Nacionalista Party to other political parties to show their commitment to honest and peaceful elections. "The holding of peaceful, honest, and orderly elections is President Arroyo's top priority now," Remonde said. This objective will mean a lot to the Filipinos. It is for the reason that the government is pushing for clean and honest elections this year. This will eliminate the traditional dirtiness of politics here in the country.
But, why is this the only time our dear president think of having clean and honest politics in the country? Why she didn't think of this good notion before?

angelica's shout out
December 28, 2009
I've learned that life is indeed full of contradictions. Sometimes, it's crazy to be sane, you need to fall to fly, people suffer because they care. You to unlearn to know the lessons, you have to get up because your strong, you have to be wrong to make things right. Nonetheless, Life's complexities are also life's source of beauty, we should cry to laugh again, fall apart to be whole again and get hurt to love again........
......just want to share my thoughts.

The Department of Health renewed yesterday its call on congress to approve proposed amendments to RA 7183 or the firecracker act , to give teeth to government regulation of the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of firecrackerS and pyrotechnic devices every year during Christmas and New Year's celebrations. I hope this will be imposed so that everyone will be safe especially on New Year's eve.

One thing i have learned from God is how to get along happily weather I have much or little. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of contentment in every situation. Do you know why? Because Christ Jesus is enough to cover everything......

Excessive use of alcohol has been singled out by Manila Police District(MPD)as one of the contributing factors as to why Manila residents saw 10 deaths due to stabbing and shooting incidents during the transition from December 31, 2009, to January, 2010. This proved that alcohol has no good effects. It will lead us to do evil, for we are not in ourselves when we are drunk, right?

After allowing sidewalk vendors to continue their trade during the holidays, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Oscar Inocentes vowed to look for areas that will serve as relocation sites for them. I hope this will not be in words only. We need ACTION, right.
